Kim and Joe are the kind of people that make you feel like an old friend as soon as you meet them. Throughout their entire planning process, they kept me on my toes with their witty humor and we wanted to reflect their fun personalities into their wedding day! When we first met, they were envisioning a summer camp wedding, dubbed Camp Capquist (a combination of their two last names). Guests stayed for the entire weekend, playing camp games, enjoying activities like obstacles courses and beach yoga, and cozying up by the fire.

The main event, their ceremony, was set against the most perfect autumn backdrop. Right before Kim and Joe were set to walk down the aisle it began to rain, and I asked if they wanted to continue on with the ceremony or switch to our rain plan. They and their guests were such troopers and stuck out the raindrops under a canopy of evergreens. Despite the rain, there was something so cozy and intimate about the ceremony and their guests huddled around, braving the weather to soak in the moment.

Kim and Joe’s reception took place in the middle of a field under a romantic sailcloth tent made all the more cozy by cafe lights strung above. Every detail was summer camp inspired, yet subtle, and one of my favorites was the escort card display: a custom board with different colored bandanas, and the call to Team Capquist to find their seats. They danced to live music performed by Protege, and when the reception had ended, “campers” warmed up by a bonfire over s’mores before retreating to their on-site cabins at the end of the night.
