Mackenzie and Jason are one of those couples that perfectly complement one another. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they’ve been together since middle school (check out those love notes from their early months together!), but I was immediately struck by how they both balanced a sense of calm with the most fun, silly personalities. Their wedding reflected just that!
We planned this cozy wedding day from start to finish in just a few short months, and these two made it so fun every step of the way. While we thoughtfully curated every detail to reflect the comfortable, garden-inspired details of the Bedford Village Inn, Mackenzie and Jason didn’t hold back on fun, color surprises inspired by their Cinco de Mayo wedding date! At one point, Mackenzie texted me something along the lines of, “ What if we had a face-in-hole photo backdrop… with cacti?” to which I enthusiastically replied, “I’m in. Let’s add live flowers.” I love a couple who’s not afraid to think outside the box – that’s where the magic happens.
To make the design details of this day even sweeter, Mackenzie’s sister Morgan owns an event rentals company called Paisley and Jade, and generously let us tap into their incredible inventory. The signage was hand drawn by the P+J team, and was coupled with custom calligraphy details from Molly Grace Makes. Bloom 52 rocked the flowers – from the greenery-draped beams to the vertical floral installation that framed Mackenzie and Jason as they said, “I do”.
Just when I thought that planning for this day couldn’t possibly get more fun, I got a call from Mackenzie’s sister Morgan asking to brainstorm ways we could surprise Mackenzie and Jason – maybe something along the lines of Cinco de Mayo. After a little back and forth, Morgan remembered an event she had attended that had… wait for it… alpacas! I searched far and wide across New England for an alpaca farm willing to bring a couple of guests of honor to M+J’s cocktail hour, and luckily Island Alpaca Co. was on board. Leo and Lex joined the party, adorned with flower combs and garlands from Bloom 52, and Mackenzie and Jason were completely surprised!
One of my favorite details of the day that was subtle, yet meaningful, was the custom motif we created to be applied to their cornhole boards and pong cups (yes, they played pong during cocktail hour!). The simple heart and arrow with their initials in the middle was the perfect nod to the fact that they’ve been together since childhood along with their summer camp ties.
This was truly such a special day for the most wonderful couple. It’s one of those weddings I wish I could relive over and over again, and I wish Mackenzie and Jason the very best in their lives together!
